My new favorite tool!
I’ve had this tool for a week and have used it on two pretty big projects already, so I think I’m ready to review it.I was working on trying to redo the caulk in a large walk-in tiled shower and had spent days trying to scrape off old caulk, but there were three pretty large sections I could not get off no matter what I tried; goo gone, 6 in one scraper and my Dremel (another favorite tool!) With brush attachments on it and nothing would remove the caulk. I broke down and bought this (I really hate how projects balloon into needing something else to get it done) because it was inexpensive and came with a scraper blade. Bingo! This saw did the trick. In 15 minutes it removed what days of elbow grease and other tools couldn’t. I was madly in love immediately. ;)Then yesterday, I’m standing in my kitchen, minding my own business, and hear my lazy Susan drop inside the corner cabinet… Ugh. Another project. I spent hours getting everything back to where it would rotate, but no adjustment I made would stop the corner door from hitting the frame (this is a rev-a-shelf lazy susan) so I quit for the day to plan my next move. Last night it hit me – oscillating saw! I decided to trim the bottom of the stinkin’ doors. I wanted to trim off about 1/8″-1/4″ and make sure the door would never rub on the frame again. Since the Genesis came with a wood cutting blade, I decided to go for it. I have old Merrilat 1970s solid oak cabinets that are hard as rocks (I’ve burned up drill bits trying to drill into them! Not hyperbole) and knew it would be slow going, but it only took me 15 minutes on each side of the corner door (while still hanging in the cabinet) to get it done. I took my time and let the tool do the work because that was the only wood cutting blade I had and it did a wonderful, fantastic job! I then used the handy dandy sanding attachment to sand down the edges and used my incredible stain marker to stain the edges and no one would ever know I cut the door….see my pic. I now have a lazy susan cabinet that works better than ever.This saw is so versatile and is fun to use. It’s not heavy at all (64 year old female) and had plenty of power to do what I needed it to do.I can see the possibilities being endless.If you’re on the fence on this, I’m telling you from experience, it’s worth every cent. Just buy it!August 22, 2019 edit:I am installing a commercial aluminum garage door threshold in my garage. You have to order a size closest to your garage door, but wider so you can cut it to fit exactly to what you need. I had to trim off 3.5″ on mine and used a combination of my oscillating saw and a hack saw. I used the segmented blade that came with the saw and got down as far as I could with it and finished off with the hack saw. This saw was pretty darn incredible because the threshold is pretty thick in spots and the blade cut it. Slow going, but it worked and gave me a nice clean cut with very little filing needed. That’s three pretty big jobs this thing handled, so I couldn’t be happier with my decision to buy it!

While I have only used this for about ten minutes, I am absolutely delighted with this tool. It is the lowest priced version and with Amazon’s generous return policy I thought I’d give it a try. This tool so far has just buzzed through construction lumber and of course drywall. I just love being able to plunge cut and spent a life regretting no one had invented something like this. Regardless of what model or make you get, do add one to your kit. It is so handy you’ll wonder how you did without it.
