Metabo HPT Takes the Corded 10-inch Miter Saw to the Next Level

Metabo HPT, a leading manufacturer of innovative power tools, has recently introduced a new product in their line of miter saws. The company has taken their corded 10-inch miter saw and adjusted it to be an 18-volt miter saw that weighs in at less than 22 pounds with the largest of the multi-volt battery system on it. This saw is incredibly accurate and does not slide. It is a single bevel and has an LED exact cut light, so users have a shadow line to see where their blade cut is going to be. It also comes with a blade brake that works together along with some excellent carrying systems in the back so you can move this around.

Miter and Bevel Adjustments

The bevel to the left is going to be from zero to 45 degrees, and there is a nice little setup back here that makes it easy to see what’s going on. The miter is going to go from 0 to 52 degrees on both right and left and has detents at 0, 15, 22.5, 31.6, and 45 degrees. Users can adjust and lock this in anywhere in that area, making it very easy to get to those detents.

Power Concerns Taken Care Of

Since this is an 18-volt saw, there might be concerns about its power. However, this saw can cut through a 4×4 effortlessly, whether you’re using a 2.5 amp hour, or a 5 amp hour, 18 volt multi-volt battery. So, it is ideal for completing large cutting projects with ease.

Trim Carpentry and Crown Molding

This saw seems to do a lot of things well for the trim carpenter. The one thing it doesn’t seem to do great at is dust collection. Nevertheless, users can remedy that by putting a vacuum on it. The saw has a tight fit, which is great, but users might need to use duct tape to make the connection work.

The bevel adjustment on this saw has markings on it for 45 or 38-degree crown on a piece of crown molding. These markings match up perfectly with the miter adjustment of the saw. So, users can pull this over without a detent and use that red line to lock the saw into place.

Lightweight and Portable

This saw is lightweight, weighed in at only 21 or 22 pounds with the battery, making it a great punch-out saw. It has excellent portability, allowing you to use it wherever you want.

Pricing

The current pricing on this saw puts it at $349 in the kit with the 5 amp hour multi-volt battery eight Metabo HPT fast charger, and the saw. Those who want to buy just the saw bare tool can get it for $269. The recorded version of this saw isn’t as updated, and still has a laser as far as the cut line, not the exact cut LED. It is currently on sale for $179.

Conclusion

Metabo HPT has taken the corded 10-inch miter saw to the next level by introducing the 18-volt miter saw. It has great accuracy, portability, and power. It is an ideal saw for trim carpentry and crown molding. Although its dust collection ability isn’t great, it’s a minor setback that won’t affect its performance. If you’re in the market for a reliable saw to help you complete DIY projects with ease, Metabo HPT has got you covered.

  1. So annoying how they don't make the 10in saws double bevel

  2. Is it accurate enough to make joinery cuts

  3. I don’t understand why dewalt can’t make one of these.

  4. Lasers are harder to see outside compared to lasers inside, but shadow lines can't be seen outside period. I use a laser outside all the time, not for precision, but just to get the workpiece in place quickly, before I even grab the handle, then I line the blade up with the mark. And the laser can just be left on indefinitely. The Shadow line has to be triggered each time.

  5. I hope other tool brands come out with their own 10inch non sliding battery powered miter.

  6. Bummer about the dust collection. I guess there’s a trade off for everything. Aside from that it’s a really good deal for the kit for those specific purposes
