Better than pneumatic
This has become my goto sander for most of my surfboard repair. I was using a pneumatic die grinder, but this is just so easy to grab and go, and performs equally as well, if not better. The trigger pull pressure is excellent, and it’s able to keep running at a much lower speed than the pneumatic when needing it to in some intricate, critical areas. Much less sand-throughs with this die grinder than the pneumatic. Love this cordless die grinder, it’s a workhorse.

Great little grinder – like using a big Dremel®
It works great. It does exactly what I wanted it for and it does it much better than a drill – even though it looks remarkably like one of my smaller drills.Its like using a big Dremel® rotary tool.Be sure to wear eye protection at the very least. If you are using a wire wheel, bear in mind that some of the little wires will fly off. The problem is that they can stick in fabric. I’d recommend a plastic or some other kind of non textile apron. If not, you may end up with little wires in your laundry. A mask or respirator is handy if you are knocking off powdery rust.Maybe its because its new but it seems more fun than work to use it.

Good power, brushless sander
I have several Ryobi cordless tools that use the ONE+ battery system so I’m already invested in the battery. I needed a good cordless sander and this one fit the bill perfectly.This is a good quality brushless rotary sander. It has 4 speeds depending on how far you pull the trigger. It has plenty of power and I get a lot of running time with even the smaller amp hour rated batteries. It has an integrated spindle lock so you only need a single wrench to change tools.I’m real happy with this tool.

Bought this for my husband, and he has used the heck out of it! If you are a seasoned DIY kind of person, this is a great tool to add to your arsenal. We love using it, and it has a lot of power. It is one of those “unknown” tools that you didn’t know you needed, until you need it. It takes over for big jobs where using a smaller rotary type tool is not enough. My husband has used it for hours to knock rust off tools, take burrs off cut metal, etc. If you already have Ryobi tools, it is a great addition to the “family”.

Seems pretty badass
Much more quiet than my old Mac right angle die grinder and has way more power too. It also has a hell of a lot more power than the Milwaukee 12v unit . I got for using in the field for marine diesel engine repair/rebuilds. I think its a well built unit. I was honestly surprised at it’s quality. I bought an adapter to use the 20v dewalt batteries in. The adapter sucked so I bought aftermarket ryobi style and that worked perfectly. I think its better than pretty much anything on the market including snap on, Mac, and Milwaukee. It’s high quality honestly. Probably the best ryobi cordless tool I’ve ever seen- most ryobi seems like crap to me- not this though. It’s well worth the price especially for field work.

Doesnât work, 1/4 bit wonât fit into collet
Purchased this die grinder, was super excited to get the tool. I have many ryobi hp power tools and they have all performed above expectations. So no I am not a dewalt or Milwaukee fan boy that snubs ryobi. So now that is cleared up, I received the tool yesterday and opened it out of the box. The tool looked great. Had a nice feel to it. I popped in a battery just to make sure it worked. I ran through all the power modes and it worked just fine. So now I go to install one of the 1/4â bits I purchased for it and it is NOT EVEN CLOSE to fitting down into the collet. I tried multiple bits to see if that one was manufactured wrong but no, it was the grinder that was defective.Iâm writing this and going to speak with who I can to try and get it resolved, because I honestly am a fan on ryobiâs hp line. So we shall see what happens. I guess depending how this goes, maybe I will become a dewalt or Milwaukee fan boy..

Tool seems fine, is new (near as I can tell) and works as expected. The one I got came in a box that originally had a battery, but someone had opened the box and removed the battery, then taped it back up again for sale. Product was not advertised as “open box”.
