Tackle Detail Work Like Never Before
The true test of any precision tool is how it performs in challenging scenarios. We pushed the PS 13 to its limits by testing it on:
1. **Tight Interior Corners**: Where standard sanders can’t reach
2. **Delicate Model Components**: Requiring feather-light touch
3. **Fine Jewelry Elements**: Demanding absolute precision
4. **Intricate Wood Carvings**: With complex contours and details
In each scenario, the Proxxon PS 13 performed exceptionally well, with its oscillating action providing controlled material removal without gouging or damaging our work pieces.
Perfect Balance of Power and Control
What impressed us most during our **proxxon ps 13 pen sander review** was the tool’s remarkable balance. Unlike many compact sanders that sacrifice power for size or vice versa, the PS 13 delivers just the right amount of both. The 8,000 RPM motor provides sufficient power for effective sanding, while the precision-engineered oscillation mechanism ensures you maintain complete control even during extended use.
Practical Applications We Discovered
Through extensive hands-on testing, we identified several standout applications where the Proxxon PS 13 truly excels:
– **Model Making**: Perfect for refining 3D-printed parts and plastic model kits
– **Fine Woodworking**: Ideal for smoothing tight corners in small wooden crafts
– **Jewelry Making**: Excellent for polishing and finishing metal components
– **Restoration Work**: Precise enough for antique repair and restoration
– **Luthiery**: Outstanding for instrument making and repair

After using the PS 13 for several hours straight, we can confidently report that hand fatigue is minimal compared to other detail sanders we’ve tested. The pen-like design allows for natural grip positions, while the lightweight construction (just 14.5 oz) prevents strain during extended use.
The control switch is perfectly positioned for one-handed operation, allowing you to maintain your grip while adjusting power. Vibration dampening is excellent, which further enhances precision and reduces user fatigue.

Does not come with wall outlet plug
Bought this for cleaning up prints, does not come with U.S wall outlet plug. Followed someoneâs review and also used a 12v 1000ma output wall adapter I had laying around. Was easily able to produce my own fastener that holds foam sanding pads the brand of sanding pads I use is â godhandtool â itâs a Japanese brand also sold on Amazon. The vibratory sander works well and fits in the hands good. I did not want to buy the adapter so this all worked same day received. Good luck!

Are you lazy like me?
I’ll be the first to admit I have lots of ambition in theory but in reality, when it comes to project completion, I lack motivation.I start a project all ready to go but when it gets difficult, I take an extended break. Yeah, lazy. But at least I know it and got this tool to make my extended breaks less extended.See, this tool helps me in my furniture restoration projects. I hate the sanding part of the restoration but in the tiny crevices or difficult angles, this thing makes life so much easier! I actually don’t hate sanding as much. You do need to purchase the power source for the US, but you can bet, if you are lazy like me, it’s well worth it.See, I buy the adhesive rolls of sandpaper and make my own sandpaper pieces. This way, I save a ton of money and get any grit I need. It is a pain in the booty to do but when I think of all the money I’ve saved doing so, it’s worth it. I just cut a bunch in my spare time so it’s ready to go when I need it.So, moral of this long review, be lazy and get this thing to make your life easier.

Worthless without power supply
When I bought this tool it did not say anything about needing a power supply to run it. The add now says you need the power supply too. Add another $114 to the price in order to use this tool. Poxxon has seen fit to add a third prong to make sure only their supply will work. I cut the cord off mine, made a new end and used a standard power supply.Product not worth the additional costs involved.

Designed to tax the user
The device is less than many but does not have the very expensive power supply and the sanding arms are cheap plastic. It is possible to get around the power supply by cutting off the end of the cord and using another 12v 1 amp power source, but I imagine that voids the warranty. The sanding action is not circular, so you have to watch it does not introduce new grain.

Exceptional Sander, Flawed Connection
So yes, as many reviewers notice, there is the power connection issue. This sander uses a unique three-pole connector, though only two poles are actually in play. The catch? Itâs meant for Proxxonâs own power adapters, which donât come cheap. Opting out of buying their pricey adapter, I modified the cable myself to fit a standard 5.5mm x 2.1mm connector and hooked it up to a 12V, 5 Amp switching power supply, which matches the specs of the Proxxon adapter. Despite the sander not needing that much current, itâs working seamlessly now.Moving on to the sander’s performance, itâs impressively lightweight and feels comfortable in hand during use. A downside is its quick consumption of sanding pads. Iâm still on the lookout for how to efficiently use regular sanding paper with it.My primary reason for choosing this tool was for sanding paper sculptures, particularly in tight spots where hand sanding is a challenge and rotary tools risk burning the paper. The Proxxonâs linear sanding action has been effective here, despite the sand pads wearing out faster than preferred. No problems have surfaced so far, which is a relief, especially since modifying the power cable voided the warranty. In summary, the tool is highly functional, user-friendly, and adept at sanding without causing overheating. However, the non-durable sand pads and the hassle of the proprietary power connector are significant drawbacks. If youâre not up for purchasing the expensive adapter or modifying the tool, you might want to consider other options. Iâd rate the tool itself highly, but given the adapter issue, I feel a four-star rating is fair without being overly generous.

Excellent performance for the price.
This requires a power supply of 12 volts which can rigged up easily or else buy the somewhat pricey Proxxon Power adapter which has the ability to control the voltage and therefore change the speed of the oscillations. I had mine connected to a regular DC adjustable power supply. Polarity of the cable is marked on the plug.

Surprisingly powerful and useful!
I bought the Proxxon micro sander because I hate sanding my 3D printed objects prior to finishing. To be honest, I was quite skeptical about this sander as the reviews were not all kind, but I hate sanding so much I purchased it anyway. I did NOT buy the Proxxon power supply unit as I have a 3 amp 30 volt variable power supply, but when it quickly arrived (Thanks Prime!) I took a chance and wired it to a an old 12 volt, 1000 milliamp Linksys router power adapter I had on hand. This so far has worked out fine for my usage. The sander is more powerful than I had expected and is actually useful for sanding my plastic models! I was worried that it might tend to melt the plastic, a problem I encountered when using dremel type tools for sanding, but the Proxxon, with its ‘side-to side’ motion does not overheat the plastic unless you really force the issue.I am glad I decided to try out this great little sander, it makes finishing a much less arduous task!

Donât be a weirdo and think that you can use this to sand a chest of drawers or something : itâs a Precision Sander For Very Small Bits. I use it when getting into tiny edges or corners for dollhouse or miniature terrain and it works a treat. You do need the 12V transformer tho so be aware it doesnât work on mains power.
Old Hilly –
This tool is small and lightweight, easy to manoeuvre and almost free of felt vibration which means you can use it for a long time without the worry of “numb fingers” caused by tool vibration. It’s probably no bigger than en electric toothbrush and makes about as much noise. The only disadvantage is that it needs a dedicated 12 Volt power supply. For model making, this is almost an essential tool,
