8000rpm Mini Pen Sander: The Ultimate Precision Power Tool for DIY Enthusiasts
After spending weeks testing various compact sanders on the market, we’ve finally found a true game-changer. The 8000rpm Power Sander is a versatile mini pen sander that delivers professional-grade results in a remarkably compact package. If you’ve been searching for a precision tool that can handle detailed work with ease, our hands-on experience with this powerful little device might just convince you it’s worth adding to your toolkit.
Impressive Power in a Pocket-Sized Package
The first thing that struck us when unboxing the 8000rpm mini pen sander was its compact yet sturdy build. Despite measuring just a fraction of the size of traditional sanders, this DIY sanding pen packs a serious punch. The 8000rpm motor provides substantial power for a tool of this size, allowing it to tackle a variety of materials with surprising efficiency.
During our testing, we found the variable speed control particularly useful when transitioning between different materials. Whether we were working on wood, metal, or plastic surfaces, the ability to adjust the power output helped us achieve consistent results without damaging more delicate materials.
Versatility That Impressed Us at Every Turn
One standout feature of this 8000rpm mini pen sander is its impressive versatility. The polishing machine comes with multiple attachment heads that transform it from a precision sander to a capable polishing tool in seconds. We tested it on everything from rough wooden surfaces to tarnished metal fixtures, and the results consistently exceeded our expectations.
The ergonomic design deserves special mention as well. During extended use sessions, many compact power tools can cause hand fatigue or cramping. However, the thoughtfully designed grip on this mini pen sander made it comfortable to use even during our marathon 3-hour testing session. The lightweight construction (under 1 pound) further contributes to reduced hand strain during detailed work.

Great Tool if Properly Used
This is a great sander if used for its intended purpose. A mini Pen Sander should tell you what its capabilities are… First you can never put pressure on any wood sander.Let the speed of the sandpaper do the work not your pressure. All sanders will die if you press downward. As a woodcarver I use this for detail work. If I want to sand a board before carving, a mini sander is not what I want. If you think you need more pressure change the grit of the sandpaper or use a different sander. There are many areas in woodcarving on softer wood that no other sander can smooth or round or make a tiny bit bigger. There is no other sander that will work. When the sander goes in an Orbital directions, side to side, it is so you can smooth out the area that you are sanding without leaving trails. This is for the wood craftsment.I wish you knew how many tools that people buy and then get broken or cause injury because the tool is being used incorrectly. This is a great sander if used for its intended purpose

Not linear at all! Vibrates side to side violently. *UPDATE*
Pros:Price seemed reasonable.*UPDATE* The seller offered me a 45% refund so I decided to keep this.I made some modifications that make it quite useable:I used a small metal box, a Sucrets cough drop tin, and installed a DC motor controller as well as a female plug soclet for the power supply and a male plug with a cable for the sander.Using some CA glue, super glue, and some baking soda I filled in the concave areas on the sanding heads. I also printed some new ones with my 3D printer, and am using double sided foam tape between the sand paper and the heads although I may change that to velcro so I can use sand paper meant for larger sanders that is already backed with flocking that sticks to velcro.I used a different power supply in the end, 12 volts 500ma, as the other was too high an amperage and could fry the motor. After opening the tool I used some vasoline to lubricate everything plastic inside and installed two pieces of neoprene cut from to act as dampers/shock absorbers for the ocillating shaft which reduced vibration significantly, then I enlarged the vent holes to keep the insides cooler. The last modification was a soft foam bicycle handlebar grip that I cut vent holes in corrispomding to the holes on the body of the tool. The tool is now very handy and much more useable as well as more comfortable to hold.Cons:This is the claim on the product page, “High frequency linear polishing pen…”, what you get is a side to side motion sander that does so very violently! It will I believe soon destroy itself with the violence of the side to side motion. It is very fatiguing to hold while it is running, I’ve used palm sanders that were easier on the hand that this. The sander comes with only two sheets of self adhesive sandpaper, prophetic if you ask me as I doubt it will outlive the supply.Does not so much sand items as rip and gouge material off their surface and thereby remove the grit from the sandpaper rapidly as well.Has only one speed, ridiculousy fast, and therefore is useless for delicate modeling or sculpting. Conclusion:I will be returning this badly designed thing very soon.

Great sander
This is a great sander for models or fine details. It removes material slowly and works best with a very light touch. Don’t press down! Just let the weight of the tool do the work and you will have great results. Keep in mind this sander is meant to remove very small amounts of material, and that takes time!

How to get replacement sanding pads?
It arrived quickly and works good.

Died in less than 3 months
The unit met my needs for very light sanding. However, considering how infrequently I used the device, I am disappointed that it quit working in just 3 months.

Great product
I do a lot of 3d CNC carved badges and sometimes I need to sand very small areas to be honest this has already saved me a bunch of time. Great product and I would recommend them 100%

Powerless
The device has no power. If you apply more than the slightest bit of pressure, it stops moving altogether. Trying to sand PLA and it barely makes a dent. The DC adapter is a large wall wart that weights maybe 3 oz. Extremely cheaply made.

WOW!
I am overall really pleased with this sander. I work on a lot of 1:6-1:4 scale 3D printed figure models and full sized 3D printed props, sanding in tight or detailed areas can be an issue but this thing rocks for those uses. I used this for about an hour straight yesterday and noticed zero overheating issues.I only have two complaints.First, the body of the tool seems to be designed to be held in a specific way but the way the attachments fit forces you to hold the body 90° to how it’s designed. Not a huge issue, but very obvious once you insert an attachment.Second, it needs to come with more precut sanding sheets and those sheets need to be foam backed. The tool currently comes with roughly 10 of each shape and they are simple adhesive backed sanding sheets. You really need cushioning on the sanding sheets with devices like this otherwise you risk gouging by accidentally pressing too hard. Foam backed sheets would greatly decrease this problem. And yeah, it needs to come with more than 10 pre-cut sanding sheets for each shape.Overall very pleased with this tool. If I run into any serious problems I’ll update this review.

Works but not overly well. Not worth the price should be $10 at Princess Auto
