If you’ve ever been stuck mid-project with a corded sander tethering you to the nearest outlet—constantly repositioning extension cords, losing momentum, and wasting billable hours—you know how much that slows down workflow. We put the DEKOPRO 20V cordless orbital sander with battery and charger through rigorous testing across multiple wood finishing projects to see if this budget-friendly option could deliver the freedom of cordless operation without sacrificing performance.
As professional tool reviewers who test sanders weekly, we were curious whether DEKOPRO could compete with established brands at a fraction of the price. This kit comes ready to work right out of the box with a 20V lithium-ion battery, charger, dust bag, and even a vacuum blower attachment—components that often cost extra with other brands.
After weeks of testing on everything from rough pine decking to delicate oak furniture refinishing, we found this cordless sander delivers surprisingly capable performance for DIY enthusiasts and light professional work, though it has specific limitations you should know about before buying.
Why DEKOPRO 20V Cordless Orbital Sander With Battery and Charger Stands Out
The first thing that caught our attention wasn’t the sander itself—it was the complete package. While most cordless sanders sell as bare tools, forcing you to piece together a battery ecosystem, the DEKOPRO arrives as a turnkey solution. You get the 20V battery, charger, dust collection bag, and that intriguing vacuum blower attachment all included.
During our first test session on a 12-foot redwood bench restoration, the cordless freedom immediately proved its worth. We moved seamlessly from horizontal surfaces to vertical edges without the dance of cord management. The 20V lithium-ion battery delivered 35-40 minutes of continuous sanding on a single charge—enough to complete most furniture pieces or tackle substantial portions of larger projects before needing a battery swap.
What genuinely surprised us was the dual-function design. By removing the sanding pad and attaching the included nozzle, this tool converts into a handheld blower for clearing dust between sanding grits. We’ve tested sanders costing three times as much that don’t offer this versatility. While it won’t replace a dedicated shop vac, it eliminated multiple trips to our dust collection system during detail work.
Compared to the Makita and DeWalt cordless sanders we regularly use, the DEKOPRO trades some refinement and raw power for exceptional value and surprising versatility. It won’t outperform professional-grade equipment in marathon sanding sessions, but for 90% of residential and light commercial applications, it handles the job with competence that belies its price point.
Key Features & Specifications
- 20V Lithium-Ion Battery System: Provides 35-40 minutes of runtime per charge in our tests—sufficient for most furniture pieces or hourly project segments without constant recharging interruptions
- Orbital Sanding Action: Random orbit pattern prevents swirl marks and cross-grain scratches, producing smooth finishes on softwoods and hardwoods alike
- Variable Speed Control: Adjustable speeds let you dial in the right aggression level—lower speeds for detail work and finishing, higher speeds for material removal
- Dust Collection System: Integrated dust bag captures approximately 60-70% of sanding debris (based on our testing), reducing airborne particles significantly compared to sanding without collection
- Dual-Function Design: Converts to handheld blower by removing sanding pad and attaching included nozzle—genuinely useful for clearing sawdust between grits or cleaning tight corners
- Hook-and-Loop Sandpaper System: Standard 5-inch sanding discs attach and release quickly; compatible with widely available aftermarket sandpaper
- Ergonomic Grip Design: Rubberized palm grip reduces fatigue during extended sanding sessions; weighs approximately 2.8 lbs with battery installed
Hands-On Performance Testing
We subjected this cordless orbital sander to three distinct real-world scenarios to evaluate its capabilities and limitations.
Test 1: Furniture Refinishing (Oak Dining Table)
We stripped and refinished a 6-foot oak dining table, starting with 80-grit to remove the old finish, progressing through 120-grit, and finishing with 220-grit. The DEKOPRO handled this progression smoothly, though we noticed the motor bogged down slightly when applying heavy pressure during the 80-grit stage. By using lighter pressure and letting the tool do the work, we achieved excellent results. Total project time: 2 hours with two battery charges. The random orbital action left zero swirl marks, and the finish accepted stain evenly.
Test 2: Deck Restoration (Pressure-Treated Pine)
Smoothing weathered deck boards proved more demanding. We worked through approximately 150 square feet of decking with 60-grit sandpaper to remove splinters and rough grain. Here, the cordless design truly shined—no extension cords to trip over, easy maneuvering around railings and stairs. However, the battery life dropped to about 25-30 minutes under this heavier workload. For professionals tackling large deck projects, you’d want multiple batteries. The dust collection struggled somewhat outdoors with wind dispersing finer particles.
Test 3: Detail Work (Cabinet Door Sanding)
We refinished twelve cabinet doors, working with various grits from 100 to 320. The variable speed control proved invaluable here—we could reduce speed for the final 320-grit passes to avoid burning through the wood. The compact design and cordless operation made it easy to position doors vertically on sawhorses and sand edges without awkward positioning. The blower function earned its keep by clearing dust from routed details between sanding stages.
One consistent observation across all tests: this sander performs best with quality sandpaper. We initially used bargain-bin discs and experienced uneven results. Switching to name-brand abrasives (3M, Diablo) delivered noticeably smoother finishes and longer sandpaper life.
What We Liked (Pros)
Complete Kit Eliminates Hidden Costs: The included battery, charger, dust bag, and blower attachment mean you’re actually working within 15 minutes of opening the box. We’ve tested “bare tool” sanders that seemed cheaper initially but required $60-80 in additional purchases before first use.
Genuine Cordless Freedom: After years of testing corded sanders, we sometimes forget how liberating battery power feels until we’re working on a project. Sanding a deck railing or refinishing outdoor furniture without extension cord logistics saves legitimate time and frustration.
Dual-Function Blower Feature Actually Works: We approached the blower attachment skeptically—seemed like a gimmick. But during cabinet door refinishing, being able to quickly clear dust from routed edges and panel details without walking to the shop vac genuinely improved workflow efficiency. It won’t replace dedicated blowers for heavy-duty cleanup, but for touch-ups between sanding grits, it’s surprisingly effective.
Lightweight Design Reduces Fatigue: At 2.8 lbs with battery, we comfortably used this sander for 45-minute sessions without the arm fatigue we experience with heavier orbital sanders. For overhead work or vertical surfaces, this weight advantage becomes increasingly apparent.
Impressive Value Proposition: We’ve tested sanders costing $150-200 that don’t include batteries or offer additional functionality. The DEKOPRO delivers competent sanding performance at a price point that makes it accessible for hobbyists and DIY enthusiasts who can’t justify premium tool investments.
What Could Be Better (Cons)
Battery Life Demands Strategic Planning: The 35-40 minute runtime handles individual furniture pieces

Very good little sander
Sander works great and is of good quality, it takes a few times to charge the battery to get it broke in but now it works great, just don’t leave the batter in the sander it will kill the battery overnight. I pretty much love everything about it and it’s awesome for the price

Horrible Battery Life
I gave the battery a full charge and just went to use it. I was sanding for a total of ten minutes including shutting down the sander to switch to a different grit paper and getting another board to sand. It only lasted TEN MINUTES. I reached out to the company to resolve this issue and possibly get a replacement battery if this one is faulty but as of now I would rate this product zero stars.

Battery life is limited
The sander works ok and does what it is suppose to do, but the battery doesn’t last. Fully charged the battery on a Monday, went to use on Friday and it was dead.

Very disappointed
First the order was delivered early. That was good but went downhill from there. Opened the box and first it was made in China and what sucks is the manual is also in the language of Chinese. Also the charger looks really cheap so not sure how well the charger is going to do. Personally st this point I would not recommend this product at this time.

Battery Time
I really like this sander, however, the battery only lasts about 20 minutes of sanding. Great for homeowners.

I was expecting more from it
I know these are alternatives to Dewalt and more affordable, but this thing does not perform well at all…
