POWERSTATE Brushless Motor

Brushless motors are more efficient than brushed, producing less noise and cooling faster to deliver years of maintenance-free performance. They’re also more compact and use up to 50% less battery power when compared to traditional brushed motors.

The POWERSTATE Brushless Motor is Milwaukee’s best-in-class brushless motor. Designed and engineered specifically for each tool, POWERSTATE delivers more application speed, torque and durability in a compact form. It operates harder, longer and produces less noise to provide up to 4 times the tool life of competitive models.

Unlike brushed motors that use brushes to transfer energy from the batteries to the tool, brushless designs use a computerized circuit board to send positive and negative polarity changes through the copper windings, creating a push-pull effect without the need for physical contact between the brush and the outer ring. Because there’s no brush friction, there is also less wear and tear on the brushes and other parts.

In addition to the POWERSTATE Brushless Motor, this Milwaukee tool features an AutoStop Control Mode that reacts quickly to help prevent over-rotation in a bind-up situation. This helps to ensure the safety of your tool and your jobsite.

The heavy-duty M18 platform also features a digital app called ONE-KEY which allows users to set up a tool for a specific application and then track and manipulate the performance of the tool to reach optimal productivity levels.

For example, the ONE-KEY app can be used to set up a M18 FUEL 1/2″ percussion drill to cut 35mm holesaws into mild steel with an accuracy of 1″ or more and a speed of 2000 RPM for a total power output of 900 ft-lbs. The app then stores these settings on the device so when you are ready to use it again, you will be able to reach these optimal settings without having to re-programme your tool.

The M18 FUEL 6-1/2 Plunge Track Saw has a POWERSTATE brushless motor that works at a high 6,300 RPM to deliver supreme accuracy and clean cuts in solid hardwoods with over 90% dust collection when paired with a compatible M18 XC6.0 battery. The saw features a quick lock blade change system with onboard allen wrench storage for easy blade change outs, bevel stops at 22.5, 45 and 48 degrees and a micro adjust depth knob for precise depth setting.

PACKOUT XL Tool Box

The PACKOUT XL Tool Box is an expansion of Milwaukee’s modular tool storage system. It’s designed to fit larger tools and equipment than the standard Packout boxes, but still provides a great amount of storage space for smaller tools and accessories. The box is constructed with impact resistant polymers and metal reinforced corners for jobsite durability, and it has an IP65 rated weather seal to protect your tools and other equipment from the elements on the jobsite.

One of the things I like about this tool is its variable speed dial, which allows you to match the cutting speed to the material being cut. It’s great for cutting a variety of different materials, from 1/4″ plywood to 2″ thick oak or walnut without bogging down. It also has a dust collection port that’s compatible with Milwaukee’s wet/dry vacuums, as well as the included dust bag.

Another cool feature of this saw is the plunge lock, which locks the arbor into a cutout window to make it easier to change blades. You can also adjust the front and rear rail tensioners to set how much play is between the saw and the track, which is a great way to avoid sloppy cuts or to avoid over-rotating on the tracks.

As with other Milwaukee tools, the FUEL 6 1/2” Plunge Track Saw has a full-length folding top handle that can be attached to the toolbox if you need to move it around or transport it over long distances. The toolbox also has a custom foam insert that holds the saw, battery, charger, and dust bag in place.

The M18 FUEL 6-1/2” Plunge Track Saw is available in both bare tool and kit form, which includes the saw, an M18 REDLITHIUM HIGH OUTPUT XC6.0 battery, a multi-voltage rapid charger, and the PACKOUT XL tool box. It’s available for pre-order soon, and will be released in October 2022.
