Powder-Actuated Fastening with Ramset: Revolutionizing Wood to Concrete Connections

Hey guys, Andy Glass here from workshopaddict.com, and today I want to bring your attention to the revolutionary fastening systems provided by Ramset. We’ll explore the various tools and applications of this advanced fastening technology that enables swift, precise, and secure wood to concrete connections. Let’s dive in.

What is Ramset and Why is it Important?

Ramset is a powder-actuated fastening system, designed to allow for quick and efficient fastening of wood to concrete without any need for pre-drilling. This innovative fastening technology utilizes gunpowder to drive a hardened steel pin through wood and into concrete, making it the go-to method for various applications.

Not limited to wood and concrete connections, Ramset can also be used to attach wood to steel, further expanding its versatility. Common applications of Ramset include fastening steel plates, hanging conduit clips, and creating connections in concrete or steel. By offering a reliable, efficient, and durable way to secure wood to concrete and steel, Ramset has established itself as a preferred choice for professionals in the construction industry.

Ramset’s Tool Lineup at Home Depot

Home Depot offers a selection of four Ramset tools to cater to individual needs and budgets. These professional-grade tools are designed to accommodate different frequencies of use and various applications. The four tools available at Home Depot include:

1. Ramset Single Shot Hammer Tool

Starting at around $25, the single shot hammer tool is perfect for those who don’t require frequent usage. This simple, yet effective tool allows users to achieve fast results by simply hitting it with a hammer.

2. Ramset Trigger Shot

At around $50, the trigger shot offers an upgrade from the single shot version. The trigger shot eliminates the need for a hammer, providing a more comfortable and convenient option for those who may require occasional usage.

3. Ramset Master Shot with Silencer

The master shot features a more ergonomic design, alongside an integrated silencer that significantly reduces noise emissions makes it an ideal choice for users working in occupied buildings or confined spaces. This 22-caliber, single-shot tool provides greater comfort and noise reduction while maintaining the same high performance as its counterparts.

4. Ramset Cobra Plus

The Cobra Plus is the most advanced option in the Ramset lineup, offering a semi-automatic, 27-caliber tool designed for high-frequency users. The semi-automatic mechanism utilizes a strip of gunpowder, allowing users to cycle through loads without needing to reload manually. This efficient design is perfect for professionals working on extensive projects, such as full basement conversions or the installation of conduit clips by electricians.

The Cobra Plus also features a power adjust function, enabling users to adjust the power output without changing the load color. This flexibility allows professionals to adapt their tools as necessary throughout a given project, ensuring consistent and efficient results.

Putting Ramset to the Test

In a recent demonstration, the effectiveness and ease of use of Ramset’s tools were showcased through the attachment of a wooden beam to a concrete wall using the Cobra Plus semi-automatic tool. With blazing speed and impressive precision, the powder-actuated fastening system drove the pin securely through the wood and into the concrete. The silencer feature of the tool kept the noise level well below expectations, making it an excellent option for quiet work environments.

Conclusion

The Ramset brand, available at Home Depot, provides a range of high-quality, professional-grade tools designed to meet the needs of various users and applications. With its unmatched fastening capabilities and innovative designs, Ramset offers efficiency, precision, and durability for wood to concrete connections and beyond. The lineup of tools presented at Home Depot caters for casual users and professionals alike, ensuring that there is a Ramset solution for everyone.

  12. This Ramset guy knows a lot more than me about tools. But that last tool is not semi automatic. If the operator needs to cycle it manually between shots, it's disqualified from being semi automatic. Perhaps he merely meant magazine fed, for this application meaning holding more than one charge at a time.

  13. Are they legal in canada?

  14. These type of tools are so powerful i have used them alot when I worked for a decking company & in that line of work this tool is a must! #WorkshopAddict

  16. The blast from those things, especially up against a back wall or corner, can be very harsh. If that silencer is as affective as it appeared on video then that would be a great improvement.
