The DeWalt Flex volt DCS 781 12-inch cordless sliding compound miter saw is an innovative and well-thought-out saw that has a lot of technology built into it. The new updated single battery Flex volt saw is engineered with technology to help with dust collection, with the ability to collect up to 90% of all dust created which is incredible. The saw also has regenerative braking that helps to charge the battery while the blade is slowing down during cutting. This will result in more cuts, giving you the maximum amount of performance and runtime from your saw.
Slide Lock
One of the innovative features of the DeWalt Flex volt saw is the slide lock that allows you to transport and position the saw easily. By moving the slide lock out of the transport position, you can put it forward to the ideal chop position, allowing you to chop upwards of six and a half inches of base. Next to the slide lock, there is a headlock that enables you to move the saw’s head up and down or lock it into place automatically, giving you complete control over your cuts. Additionally, there is a depth stop that is entirely adjustable, allowing you to place it wherever you’d like for easy use and access.
Miter and Bevel Cuts
The DeWalt Flex volt saw is incredibly smooth and will make miter cuts up to 50 degrees to the left and 60 degrees to the right. The saw also has very common detents at zero, 15 degrees, 22.5, 31.6, and 45 degrees which are precise and easy to use. The saw will bevel 46 degrees to the right and left, and you have detents with bevel Paws that allow it to go from 22.5 to 33.9 and all the way down to 45 degrees. Dust collection can happen through the dust bag or DeWalt vacuum attachment, with a locking mechanism specifically designed for the Flex volt vacuum.
The Power and Runtime
The DeWalt Flex volt saw has 3800 RPM and comes with a fine-cut 60-tooth blade that is perfect for exact cuts. With a weight of 51 pounds, the saw has a capacity to cut horizontally 12 and 3 16 inches and vertically trim up to six and a half inches. According to Dewalt‘s claim, the saw has upward of 600 cuts on trim and 255 cuts on a 4×4. Testing shows that these figures are accurate, and the saw has an incredible runtime with the new DeWalt flexible technology. The dust collection on this saw is significantly better than the older versions, making it ideal for indoor use or finished homes.
Testing the Power and Dust Collection
Testing the saw shows its ability to power through any material with ease. The dust collection from the DeWalt flex volt saw is outstanding and significantly reduced the amount of dust generated during cutting. The vacuum works flawlessly with the saw, leaving little to no mess behind, making this saw perfect for carpentry work in finished homes. This saw is ideal for people who want to work smarter, not harder.
Conclusion
The DeWalt Flex volt DCS 781 12-inch cordless sliding compound miter saw is an excellent tool for professionals and DIY enthusiasts alike. It has incredible features like dust collection that can collect up to 90% of all dust created, regenerative braking that allows for more cuts, and a runtime of over 600 cuts on trim and 255 cuts on a 4×4. The saw is precise, smooth, and easy to use, and has innovative features like the slide lock and headlock. Overall, this saw is a great choice, and the perfect tool for any professional or DIYer who needs the best in the business.

Olá ,o que vc achou dessa serra ? Do desempenho dela em comparação a de 120 v ?
You think it's expensive in the states?
Try buying it in the UK. it's £1000 for the bare unit!!!
£1300 for the kit?
Definitely being ripped off over here🤨
DeWalt did not equip this unit with a 120VAC plug-in feature like the PREVIOUS DHS790. They are GREEDY & want to force customers to buy more batteries. I'll skip this model. They could at least make a 120V AC to 60v FlexVolt battery adapter! Oh yeah, that would cost them battery sales. Perhaps I'll design, build & market one…
How much sir
Dust collection seems to only work well if you cut certain material or a certain procedure
Would the regenerative braking damage the battery or speed up the degrading of the battery
Lmao, this saw is awsome! But why I saw a huge blade attached to A battery powered grinder?
Why would you want this tool to be battery powered?
Nice review! I like the single battery aspect of this but also like the ability to plug the old one in. I have a DCS780 and the cordless 7 1/4, thinking of replacing the 7 1/4 with this for the added cordless power. How does this compare to the 780? How does this slide the display at HD seems “grittier” than the 780.
Power stack compatible?
Too bad there's no way to tool-actuate a vacuum with this saw. I own three DeWalt miter saws and would've happily bought this one even adding a battery platform but I'd rather plug in to a dust extractor once than turn on and off a vacuum every time I make a cut. Awesome saw – absurd that with all the things they got right that this isn't part of the package in 2023.
I'm so mad I just bought the old version like 2 months ago
Trying to get 100% dust collection a miter saw, or any saw, is ludicrous!
Looks an awesome saw! Does it have Bluetooth to connect to a vacuum?
Any word on the 60V A/C Power Adapter? After rolling out a single battery / 60v table saw rather than a two battery / 120v to go with the miter saw DeWALT promised a 60v adapter would be available soon! …Still waiting. I usually setup both the slider and chopper on the 723. Outside, on battery I can let the dust fly. Inside I use the A/C adapter to start a CT Mini. DeWALT hasn’t really addressed activating dust collect while on battery.
Quality review, as per usual.
It’s a top level saw on a top level price. I’m curious what size vacuum hose that is on that dewalt unit?
Всё гениальное просто
The rail design is a deal breaker for me I would pick the 40v makita over this or a festool as I need to set it up in small places.
HEY dont forget the offset belt drive allowing for them DEEEP cuts
Lookalike DeWalt got this redesign right! Contrast the OK but nothing special while being late to market Milwaukee track saw
This felt like a sponsored review over and actual owners review. You keep mentioning the dust control, but guy you have this hooked up to a vacuum. My other 2 flexvolts (dhs716 & dhs790) do well on vacuum too. You talk about the regenerative "charging" saying it works well but you literally 0 basis to quantify that statement. You don't even know if it's working or not. Fwiw I'm on day two of finish carpentry and haven't had to change my 6ah batteries on my dhs716. These batteries are old too. You mention nothing about the power vs the outgoing model(s), nothing about the feel when carrying it.. and probably most importantly you mention nothing about accuracy. Even out of the box accuracy before adjustments.
All you did was praise the saw without any criticism. I'm more inclined to trust the smaller channels that review tools because they seem more honest about what it can and can't do.
I think I'll be selling my dws799 and buying this saw.
Just bought this to replace the flexvolt DHS716. I think Dewalt has something going with the regenerative braking charging the battery. Good time for them to update the cordless table saw with the same technology.
Very useful review, as it seems to have very good performance indicators.. The price is not high at all. Here in Europe, and more precisely in Bulgaria, it will probably be over $1300 with duties and taxes 😠🙄.
I kind of wish it had a front rail slide design, but that's a minor nit for a cordless that likely won't sit in a shop or garage in a stationary position. Looks like a winner!
I was liking this “ad” until the bs statement
This saws dust collection is incredible
Never seen another saw that can collect dust this good…
Uh ok
Stop the bs n just say you got paid to say buy this saw 🤣🤦🏻♂️
Hey can you test the Command Access dewalt battery field variable voltage power supply ? Looks promising but I’m not sure
does it come with a plug in option like the old one?
ok thanks, my did not came with. I am trying to fine the part number anyway super thanks
