Why This Tool Became Our Go-To Workshop Companion
The beauty of Milwaukee’s 18V battery ecosystem is undeniable, and this oscillating tool taps into that power brilliantly. During our testing phase, we appreciated that it’s sold as a bare tool—perfect for anyone already invested in Milwaukee’s battery platform. No redundant batteries cluttering your workshop, just pure tool performance at a fraction of the cost.
What immediately caught our attention was the tool’s solid construction and balanced weight distribution. At first glance, you might mistake it for Milwaukee’s own branded tool, and that’s no accident. The build quality speaks volumes about the manufacturer’s commitment to creating a legitimate Milwaukee-compatible option.
Brushless Motor Technology: The Heart of Superior Performance
Let’s talk about what really matters—the brushless motor. We’ve tested countless oscillating tools over the years, and the difference between brushed and brushless motors is night and day. This tool’s brushless design delivered three key advantages we noticed immediately:
**Extended Runtime**: During our flooring project, we ran this tool continuously for over 45 minutes on a single 5.0Ah battery while cutting through old vinyl and underlayment. Traditional brushed motors would have drained the battery much faster.
**Consistent Power Delivery**: The 21,000 oscillations per minute (OPM) maximum speed isn’t just a number on paper. We measured consistent performance even when pressure increased during demanding cuts through hardwood and metal fasteners.
**Reduced Heat Generation**: After extended use, the motor housing remained surprisingly cool. This matters for longevity and comfort during marathon work sessions.
Real-World Performance Across Multiple Applications
Cutting Performance That Exceeded Expectations
We put this tool through its paces with various cutting tasks. When removing baseboards during a bathroom renovation, the precision cuts around trim and door casings were clean and controlled. The variable speed control (which we’ll discuss shortly) made it easy to match the speed to the material.
For wood cutting specifically, we sliced through 2×4 lumber, plywood, and even some stubborn nails embedded in old framing. The tool never bogged down or stalled, maintaining consistent oscillation throughout. One particularly impressive moment came when cutting flush to a wall—the tool’s slim profile allowed us to get incredibly close without marring the drywall.
Sanding Capabilities for Fine Finishing Work
Oscillating tools aren’t just for cutting, and this one proved exceptionally capable at sanding tasks. We attached various grit sanding pads and tackled everything from rough deck refinishing to delicate cabinet touch-ups. The triangular sanding pad reached into corners that orbital sanders simply can’t access.
The consistent oscillation pattern created a smooth, even finish without the aggressive material removal that can lead to gouging. For detail sanding around window frames and door jambs, this tool became our preferred choice over traditional hand sanding.
Scraping: Where This Tool Really Shines
If you’ve ever spent hours scraping old paint, caulk, or adhesive by hand, you’ll appreciate what we discovered. Fitted with a rigid scraping blade, this oscillating tool removed decades-old linoleum adhesive from a concrete floor in about one-third the time manual scraping would have taken.
The key is the rapid oscillation combined with the tool’s ergonomic design, which allowed us to apply consistent downward pressure without hand fatigue. We also used it to remove dried construction adhesive from subflooring—a task that would normally require significant elbow grease and patience.
The Auxiliary Handle Advantage
Here’s a feature that separates amateur-grade tools from professional equipment: the auxiliary handle. During our testing, this seemingly simple addition proved invaluable for control and precision.
When making overhead cuts (installing recessed lighting in an existing ceiling), the auxiliary handle provided the stability needed for safe, accurate work. We could brace the tool with both hands, reducing vibration transfer and improving cut quality.
For heavy scraping tasks, the auxiliary handle allowed us to apply significantly more downward force without compromising control. The handle attachment point is well-positioned and doesn’t interfere with blade changes or workspace visibility.
Variable Speed Control: Match Your Material
The variable speed dial deserves special mention. Rather than a simple on/off trigger, this tool features intuitive speed adjustment that we used constantly. Here’s how we typically set the speed for different materials:
**Low Speed (8,000-12,000 OPM)**: Ideal for cutting plastic, PVC, and delicate trim work where precision trumps speed. We also used lower speeds for sanding detailed areas where control is paramount.
**Medium Speed (12,000-17,000 OPM)**: Our go-to setting for most wood cutting and general sanding. This range provided the sweet spot between aggressive material removal and controllable operation.
**High Speed (17,000-21,000 OPM)**: Reserved for tough jobs like cutting through metal fasteners, dense hardwoods, or aggressive paint removal. At maximum speed, this tool truly showcases its brushless motor’s capabilities.
Tool-Free Blade Changes: A Time-Saver We Appreciated
Anyone who’s struggled with Allen wrenches and hex keys while changing oscillating tool blades will appreciate the tool-free blade change system. During our testing, we switched between cutting blades, sanding pads, and scraping attachments multiple times.
The quick-release lever is positioned intuitively on the tool’s head. A simple twist unlocks the blade, and the 12-point blade clamp accommodates both universal fit and brand-specific accessories. We tested compatibility with Bosch, DeWalt, and Ryobi blades—all fit securely without wobble or premature release.
One practical observation: even when our hands were dusty or slightly damp, the lever provided enough grip for easy operation. This might seem minor until you’re in the middle of a project and need to swap accessories quickly.
Compatibility with Milwaukee 18V Battery Ecosystem
This is where smart shopping pays dividends. If you already own Milwaukee 18V tools, adding this oscillating tool to your arsenal makes perfect economic sense. We tested it with several Milwaukee battery configurations:
**Milwaukee M18 2.0Ah Battery**: Provided approximately 35-40 minutes of runtime under moderate use (mixed cutting and sanding). Ideal for lighter tasks and reduces overall tool weight.
**Milwaukee M18 5.0Ah Battery**: Our preferred choice for extended projects. We consistently achieved 60-75 minutes of continuous operation depending on material hardness and speed settings.
**Milwaukee M18 High Output 8.0Ah Battery**: For all-day projects, this combination is unbeatable. We worked through an entire room renovation (approximately 2.5 hours of actual tool use) without swapping batteries.
The battery slides into place with a satisfying click and sits flush against the tool body. We experienced zero connection issues or power interruptions throughout our testing period.
Ergonomics and Handling During Extended Use
Comfort matters, especially when you’re working overhead, in awkward positions, or for extended periods. This tool’s ergonomic design features several thoughtful touches we noticed:

Very good tool and value!
This is a great tool. For the DIY person its fantastic. I already had batteries and a charger as this tool ( at least one I bought ) comes with only tool and accessories. FYI This tool uses the same battery as the MILWAUKEE BRAND M18 VOLT RED LITHIUM 2.0 18 VOLT BATTERY that is available for Milwaukee drills impacts and other battery run tools. I already had a Milwaukee drill so I used the battery to power this tool. This is a must have for close cuts under baseboards or tight areas where you cannot get a saw into. Has different cutting accessories for wood and metal that come with tool and you can order other accessories as well if needed. Tool has plenty of power which is adjustable and is well made, I have used it several times a week in my home remodel for over two months and it still like new. Very good!!

Great tool, but…
This is a great tool. It’s like it’s a Makita without the brand on it. Works wonderfully well, however here is what I will say about it.1) The blades in the box are bad. Spend some money and get good blades, it makes all the difference in the world.2) You NEED at least a 4AH battery to get the juice you need for the device to work correctly. The 2 and 3 batteries just don’t have quite the power to make it work at 100%. This is not a flaw of the tool, it’s just the way it is. Even the Makita branded one will tell you not to use the small batteries for it.Other than that, tool is great, costs less, and lets you use batteries you already have…

Love that saw
Perfect, no need to buy a new battery, I use my M18. Excellent Price quality value. Also have a second side handle, love it.

Amazing price for half the price of the regular tool
I work as a finish carpenter and use this every single day for many different things, not only was the tool itself very cheap but the attachments it came with saved me a bit of money. I’ve been using the tool for a little over a year and it is still holding up great, the sanding attachments make my joints look super clean.

Not enough power to do any useful work
Tried to like this tool because the price was so good. The tool looks well made and the speed asdjustment is fine.Ran through all the attachment blades very quickly. None of them were able to actually cut wood, metal or any other material. The sander attachment was marginally useful.I regret this purchase and wish I had no ordered it. Just a waste of money and time…Update – the seller sent me a total refund even though the return period was long past. They also stated they are investigating why the tool did not work. I stand by the review but am impressed by how this was handled.

Works well, but buy a quality blade with it.
Works well with makita 18v batteries, i used it with 5amp batteries and it had enought run time for me to finish several outlets and still had more power left in the battery. The speed adjuster and power switch worked as expected and did a good job of both cutting and sanding. The problem that I see with it is not the tool itsself but the accessories that it came with. They did not last very long at all, about 3 outlets cutting into 3/8 drywall and the blades were dull. maybe I expect more than I should. It is an easy to use tool while the blades are still sharp. It i a bit on the noisy side to me, but I don’t know what a namebrand one sounds like either, so maybe don’t take my word on that one.
