Which Vacuum is Worth Your Money? Comparison of Stealth and DeWalt Vacuums

When it comes to purchasing a vacuum, we’re all looking for the best value for our money. With so many choices out there, it’s hard to know which one is worth your investment. In this article, we’ll take a closer look at two popular vacuums – the Stealth brand 5.5 horsepower 5 gallon vacuum, and the DeWalt Stealth Sonic 12 gallon vacuum – to help you make an informed decision.

First, let’s talk about their specs. Both vacuums claim to be 5.5 horsepower, but do they actually live up to that claim? To find out, we hooked them up to a kilowatt to see how many watts they actually use. The Stealth brand used around 1050 watts and dropped to the 900s when the hose was blocked with a hand. On the other hand, the DeWalt Stealth Sonic used around 950 watts and dropped to the 800s under the same conditions.

As we can see, neither of these vacuums are truly 5.5 horsepower. However, what is surprising is that the Stealth brand uses 100 more watts than the DeWalt Stealth Sonic, even though the latter is a 12-gallon wet/dry vac.

The Stealth brand vacuum costs around $80 to $90 on Amazon, whereas the DeWalt Stealth Sonic is priced at $139 at Lowe’s but most likely can be found on sale. However, the build quality of DeWalt Stealth Sonic is better, and it provides twice the suction speed with water than the Stealth vacuum.

Apart from that, both vacuums have some design similarities, such as the legs, drain in the front, and hose that acts very similar when it kinks. The only difference is that the hose on the smaller Stealth brand has a weird end, which is unfortunately unremovable.

Looking at the above factors, it’s clear that the DeWalt Stealth Sonic offers more value for the money. However, it ultimately depends on your budget, needs, and preferences.

Before investing in any of these vacuums, do leave a comment below with your thoughts on this comparison, such as the decibel level of the Stealth Sonic or size differences between them. We’ll use your feedback to create more detailed follow-up videos to help you make an informed purchase decision.

In conclusion, whether you’re a DIY enthusiast or a professional contractor, do your research and invest wisely in a vacuum that will meet your specific needs and deliver the value for the money you deserve.

  1. i don't get why they would name their company Stealth and the vacuum is anything but stealth given how loud it is lol

  2. Where is the second video? Been 3 months

  3. I believe you've talked me into the Dewalt even before the 2nd video.

  4. Sorry if I missed it, who ((and where) builds these?

  5. I can’t find that dewalt stealth sonic in Canada…

  6. I want the quiet one but in the size of the loud one. That dewalt looks monstrous and would suck in any tight place.

  7. Dewalt should do double battery flexvolt version of stealth sonic with corded option ya know since they already have a corded adapter they made for miter saw and HAVENT made anything else for it which i dont get. And another option they should do would be double flexvolt battery optional which means will work with 1 flexvolt but can use 2 flexolt batteries for more runtime meaning a 60v vacuum. Dewalt has this advantage with flexvolt but they havent taken advantage with these possibilities. With their higher voltage batteries and being able to double up on top of it, Milwaukee couldnt compete well with this bigger stuff. Yea they are same watt hour range for total capacity and runtime but some things need the higher voltage and milwaukee is handicapped cuz all they have are 18v (20v) batteries

  8. Kind of odd comparison in my opinion since capacity is over double on the dewalt and larger hose for larger stuff. Theres a reason for both for some ppl

  9. Do they just make up the horsepower figures? U.K. question😵‍💫

  10. I like the dewalt cause it quiet. Even though they are the same hp they have different diameter hoses and the dewalt probably has a better seal between the motor and bucket.

  11. Dewalt for me for how quiet, faster and size.

  12. These companies got the blinder over all American consumers
Lol either one there making money lol 😂

  13. I like how quiet the DeWALT is

  14. Pass on both due to very poor power/suction performance. Suggest the Vacmaster Beast 5.5HP 5gal. 98 bucks on amz and quite literally blows these both out of the water with performance. (Over 50pct more real world power!)

  15. Would take the dewalt for the more quite sound it producces

  16. The dewalt is faster and quieter with a better build? This isn't a tough choice imo

  17. Tough to beat how quiet the dewalt is. I’ll still take my Festool CT MIDI . Nothing better

  18. Dewalt for the win and it’s not Extremely loud for a shop vac huge bonus

  19. What the best part is to me is that the 5 gallon still has a drain cap.

  20. Can I simply say what a relief to uncover somebody that truly understands what they are discussing over the internet. You certainly know how to bring an issue to light and make it important. A lot more people must look at this and understand this side of your story. I was surprised that you are not more popular given that you most certainly have the gift.
